On December 20th, in a galaxy not so far away, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit movie theaters and send generations of Star Wars fans into a frenzy as they feel the force and shed a few tears. The Rise of Skywalker, also known as Star Wars IX, is the ninth episode and final episode in the Star Wars “Skywalker saga.”

The Star Wars series began in 1977 with the release of the first movie, retroactively named Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.Overall, there have been 12 films, multiple television shows– including the highly successful Disney+ original The Mandalorian– and even a holiday special. The Skywalker saga, which includes the nine movies in the main storyline (1977-2019), is set to come to an. Movie goers won’t get to go back to a galaxy far, far away until December 15, but they can bet on Star Wars: The Last Jedi now.Episode 8 of the popular sci-fi franchise is expected to be among.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, this film wraps up the third trilogy of Star Wars movies that began with The Force Awakens in 2015 and The Last Jedi in 2017.

The Rise of Skywalker will pick up roughly one year after the events of The Last Jedi. It will feature battles between the Resistance and the First Order along with the longstanding storyline of the Jedi fighting the Sith.

With the popularity of this movie expected to be near all-time highs, entertainment betting sites have seen a market for fans and gamblers to place Star Wars bets. The following is a collection of the latest Rise of Skywalker prop bets available as of this writing.

Early Oscars Betting Odds for Star Wars

For those unaware, not only are we heading into the holiday season, but we’re also heading into Oscars’ season. Along with The Rise of Skywalker, there are several other movies coming out over the next month that are expected to rack up numerous Academy Awards nominations.

The competition will be fierce for these limited number of nominations and it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not The Rise of Skywalker will receive any. With that said, SportingBet.com offers Star Wars bettors the following Oscars prop bets regarding Star Wars IX:

Will Adam Driver be Nominated for an Oscar?

  • Yes (+700)
  • No (-2000)

This one is tricky. Adam Driver plays Kylo Ren who has been a key figure in the last two films. However, he’s not going to be nominated for his role as the baby boy of Han Solo and Princess Leia. Instead, Driver has earned Oscar buzz for his role in Marriage Story as the lead actor.

In fact, Driver’s performance in this film, which will be released on December 6th, is a serious threat to upstage Joaquin Phoenix as the Best Actor for his role in the Joker. With Driver almost certainly getting the nomination for Marriage Story, and not Star Wars, you can safely choose the “no” option for this prop bet.

Let the past die, kill it if you have to. But before you do, wish Adam Driver, the man in Kylo Ren’s mask, a very happy birthday below… pic.twitter.com/nIXAEzcyNz

Star Wars Bet: No, Adam Driver will not get nominated

Will Star Wars IX be Nominated for Best Visual Effects?

  • Yes (-333)
  • No (+220)

If there’s one area of this film that we can be certain will earn Star Wars an Academy Award nomination, it’s this one. Dating all the way back to Star Wars IV: A New Hope, this franchise has been nominated for Best Visual Effects.

In fact, every “Skywalker saga” of Star Wars films has earned a nomination for this category. Unfortunately, only the first three films actually won the award. The second set of trilogy films from 1999 – 2005, lost out to The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings films.

The Force Awakens was nominated, but lost to Ex Machina and The Last Jedi lost out to Blade Runner 2049. Nevertheless, you can confidently pencil in The Rise of Skywalker as a nominee for the Best Visual Effects category.

Star Wars Bet: Yes, The Rise of Skywalker will get nominated for Best Visual Effects (-333)

Will John Williams be Nominated for Best Original Score?

  • Yes (-167)
  • No (+120)

John Williams will go down as one of the greatest composers of all time. He’s been nominated for 51 Academy Awards dating all the way back to 1967. Williams has created scores that have left an impression on pop culture with such films like Jaws, Superman, E.T., and the Star Wars franchise.

Williams has won this Oscar on five occasions:

  • In 1971 for Fiddler on the Roof
  • In 1975 for Jaws
  • In 1977 for Star Wars: A New Hope
  • In 1982 for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
  • In 1993 for Schindler’s List

Most of the Star Wars’ films have earned John Williams a nomination in this category. However, only the first film won the Oscar for Best Original Score.

For this bet, I’m shocked that the odds are this low. Wager your entire Star Wars collection, kids’ college funds, and your house that Williams will get nominated for the category of Best Original Score.

Star Wars Bet: Yes, John Williams will get nominated (-167)

Will Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker be Nominated for Best Film Award?

  • Yes (+900)
  • No (-5000)

Before we answer this question, let’s take a look at how the previous eight Star Wars films have done:

  • In 1977, Star Wars was nominated, but lost to Annie Hall
  • Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi weren’t even nominated.
  • The entire second trilogy of Star Wars films wasn’t even close to being nominated for the Best Film.
  • The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were also left out of his category in 2015 and 2017.

As you can see, only the original Star Wars film earned a nomination for the Best Film category and it lost out to a Woody Allen film that nobody even remembers. Not even the power of the force can help The Rise of Skywalker get nominated for this category.

What do betting odds mean

Take the “no” option for this bet even though there’s no value.

Star Wars Bet: No, it will not get nominated (-500)

Will Star Wars Episode IX Win at Least One of the Four Main Acting Oscars?

  • Yes (+700)
  • No (-2000)

The four main acting categories are: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Of the previous eight “Skywalker saga” Star Wars films, only A New Hope earned a nomination in one of these categories. None of the other films even sniffed a nomination.

Alec Guinness was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 50th Academy Awards for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. He lost out to Jason Robards who played Dashiell Hammett in Julia.

Since Guinness’ nomination, no actor or actress in a Star Wars film has earned a nomination in any of these four main acting categories. Not only will Star Wars IX not win one of the four main acting Oscars, I highly doubt they will even earn a nomination in these categories. Go with “no” for this bet.

Sports betting odds
Star Wars Bet: No, it won’t win an Oscar in the main four acting categories (-200)

Will J.J. Abrams be Nominated for an Oscar for Best Director?

  • Yes (+600)
  • No (-1429)

Once again, the only time a Star Wars film earned a nomination for the Best Director award was in 1977 when George Lucas earned a nomination for Star Wars: A New Hope. He lost out to Woody Allen for his film Annie Hall. Since then, no other Star Wars director has come close to earning a nomination.

With that said, I highly doubt that J.J. Abrams will earn a nomination for this award. Despite having a successful career, Abrams has never been nominated for an Academy Award before and I don’t see it happening for this film.

Star Wars Bet: No, Abrams will not get nominated (-1429)

The Rise of Skywalker Opening Weekend Box Office

For decades, films have been measured on how successful they are by the numbers they generate during their opening weekend at the box office. It’s a measuring stick for just how excited the general population was in seeing a film. It’s also a good indicator of how well a film will do in it the theaters.

With that said, let’s take a look at the Top 10 all-time grossers for domestic opening weekend at the box office to get a better idea of how well The Rise of Skywalker might do:

FilmYearDomestic Gross
Avengers: Endgame2019$357,115,007
Avengers: Infinity War2018$257,698,183
Star Wars: The Force Awakens2015$247,966,675
Star Wars: The Last Jedi2017$220,009,584
Jurassic World2015$208,806,270
The Avengers2012$207,438,708
Black Panther2018$202,003,951
The Lion King2019$191,770,759
Avengers: Age of Ultron2015$191,271,109
Incredibles 22018$182,687,905

Where Will The Rise of Skywalker Finish on the All-Time Opening Weekend Box Office?

  • 4th highest (-105)
  • 3rd highest (+170)
  • 2nd highest (+350)
  • 5th highest or worse (+500)
  • Highest all-time (+3300)

This prop bet, courtesy of 188Bet, asks where bettors think The Rise of Skywalker will rank for the all-time opening weekend domestic box office numbers.

As you can see in the chart above, Marvel films crushed it as both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: End Game smashed box office records. They’re followed by the last two Star Wars films: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

The Force Awakens was the first film in this third and final trilogy. It generated a lot of hype as longtime fans were excited to see how the story continued from the original trilogy. The Last Jedi was going to feature more of Luke Skywalker and longtime fans just couldn’t get enough of the original cast.

With this film being the final installment of the “Skywalker saga,” I expect it to do really well at the box office. With The Mandalorian creating a massive buzz on Disney+, Star Wars fever is starting to grow and I expect it will fuel additional interest in the new film next month.

I don’t see The Rise of Skywalker topping either Avengers films, but there’s a strong chance it could beat out The Force Awakens (+170) and The Last Jedi (-105).

Both betting options, 3rd highest and 4th highest, offer great value. The safe play is 4th highest at -105 odds, but the better return is with the 3rd highest at +170 odds. It would be fitting for this film to end up surpassing the previous two Star Wars films.

Will The Rise of Skywalker Surpass The Last Jedi in the Box Office for Opening Weekend?

  • Yes (-175)
  • No (+125)

If you aren’t comfortable with betting on the prop bet above, then this Star Wars wager might be more to your liking. Provided by 1XBet Sportsbook, this entertainment prop bet asks whether or not The Rise of Skywalker will beat out The Last Jedi in opening weekend numbers at the box office.

Jump on this wager now before the odds go up. The Rise of Skywalker will absolutely surpass The Last Jedi at the box office on opening weekend. Star Wars IX comes out on December 20th as kids will be out of school and families will be looking to spend time together for the holidays.

With all of the diehard Star Wars fans realizing that this is the last film in the “Skywalker saga,” I expect them to pack theaters across the nation. I’m predicting that The Rise of Skywalker will not only beat The Last Jedi by at least 15%, but it will also surpass The Force Awakens as the 3rd highest grossing film for opening weekend at the box office.

Star Wars Bet: Yes, it will surpass The Last Jedi (-175)

Godzilla Vs. Kong is the next big installment in Legendary Pictures' 'Monster-Verse', giving us the long-awaited clash of the titans next month in both theaters and streaming on HBO Max and it seems as if betting odds for this giant monster battle royale are on the side of the ruler of Skull Island. With website Bovada stating that Kong is set to take the crown as the new king of the monsters, it's clear that gamblers who had seen the trailers for the upcoming crossover believe that the larger-than-life primate will defeat Godzilla in the one-on-one fight.

Godzilla and Kong might not be alone in their fight against one another, with many believing that the initial trailers have given us our first look at Legendary's take on the mechanical doppelganger, Mechagodzilla, will be interrupting the battle between two of the most popular giant monsters to ever hit the silver screen. Though the trailers featured Kong taking on some of the giant monsters that reside on Skull Island, we have yet to see whether or not some more of the famous kaiju will make appearances in what might be the final entry in Legendary Pictures' Monster-Verse that is three movies strong as of now.

Bovada shared the latest betting odds, which has Kong far above Godzilla's chances in the kaiju war that is sure to determine who is currently the king of the monsters once the smoke clears and humanity can once again take a deep breath as the battle comes to a close.

Though this upcoming movie might be the Monster-Verse's final entry, Godzilla and Kong aren't wasting much time when it comes to bringing them back to the world of media, with Netflix already working on two new anime series in Godzilla: Singular Point and Skull Island. The kaijus' future on the big screen is anyone's guess at this point but based on their respective histories, we won't have to wait too long to hear news about how each giant monster will make their returns, if not in the Monster-Verse. Needless to say, the world of the Monster-Verse will never be the same following this giant war.
